Barberini

The Barberini family rose to prominence as Italian nobility in the seventeenth century in Rome. The artist visited their urban palace, Palazzo Barberini, housing the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica. Their coat arms has three bees that can be found on fountains, buildings and altars throughout the city. The bee became her inspiration.
